Natural make-up: fewer products, tailored to your face
Make-up that looks like “no make-up” actually takes the most care. From skin prep to lip colour, a natural look in five steps.

In recent years brides and everyday clients alike ask for the same look: make-up that is there but doesn’t show, a face that still looks like itself. The secret is not the number of products but the order and the amount.
1. Prepare the skin
Half of natural make-up happens before the make-up. Apply a light moisturiser to clean skin and wait five minutes. If the under-eye area is dry, pat in eye cream with a fingertip. Well-prepared skin needs less foundation.
2. Spot concealer instead of foundation
Instead of covering the whole face, apply a thin concealer only where there is redness or shadow (around the nose, the chin, the inner corner under the eye). Blend the edges with a damp sponge and let the rest of your skin keep its own texture.
3. Brows: brush and set
Brushing brows upwards and setting them with clear gel is the quickest way to lift the face. Fill gaps with short, hair-like strokes using a pencil one shade lighter than your brows.
4. Cream blush and one coat of mascara
Dab cream blush onto the cheekbones with your fingers; it melts into the skin better than powder. Apply mascara to the upper lashes only, one coat from root to tip.
5. A shade close to your lips
Choose a moist lipstick or tinted balm one shade deeper than your natural lip colour. You won’t even need a mirror to touch it up during the day.
We work on the same principle for bridal make-up; the products are simply longer-wearing, with a light setting so nothing shines in photos. We find that balance together at the trial.
